With regards to pickleball, the PHO (Provincial Health Orders) and viaSport guidelines are still in place indefinitely—singles play is allowed, and doubles play is only allowed if two are from the same household.

On behalf of the SPPA Executive we would like to remind all players to please follow the helpful guidelines listed below to ensure that we are all staying healthy, following the PHO guidelines, and being respectful of the neighbours:

  1. Please stay off the picnic tables and do not congregate around them while waiting for your turn to play,

  2. Bring your own chair to sit on while you wait for the next available court, space chairs six-feet apart. When playing, please put your gear on your chair and not alongside the fence or on the picnic tables,

  3. Please play a game to 11 points, then come off the court for the next awaiting players,

  4.  Please stay six-feet apart from your fellow players at all times, and

  5.  Please play pickleball within the posted hours only.

Court hours for public pickleball play are as follows:

Monday, Friday, Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

To minimize the impact on neighbours, please do not use the courts outside the posted hours.

Saanich Peninsula Pickleball Association news:

Your Facilities Committee has been working hard, making presentations to both Central Saanich and North Saanich Mayor and Council to explore new courts.  These presentations can be viewed on the individual municipality's websites under Council Meetings. A letter was sent to the Panorama Recreation Committee to consider pickleball as they start their 5-year planning phase.  As well, the committee has been sending emails, exploring places to play, and setting up venues so we can have more opportunities to play pickleball.
